Quincy McIver, also known as Bushmaster. He is a snake-themed supervillain who has been a member of the Serpent Society, a group of criminals who often clash with Captain America and other heroes.
Quincy McIver was born on a Caribbean island, where he was influenced by his older brother John, who was a ruthless criminal. John trained Quincy to be his partner in crime, and gave him the nickname “Quince”. Quincy joined a drug ring led by Herve Argosy, but during a police raid, he tried to escape by swimming and was accidentally run over by a boat. He lost his arms and legs in the accident, and was hospitalized.
Quincy was visited by his brother John, who told him that he was going to Europe to work for Argosy under the alias of John Bushmaster. Quincy never saw him again, as John was killed by Power Man (Luke Cage) while trying to steal a super-soldier serum. Quincy also received a visit from Seth Voelker, an executive of Roxxon Oil Company, who offered him a chance to participate in an experiment. Roxxon grafted bionic arms and a snake-like tail to Quincy’s body, giving him enhanced strength and agility. Quincy agreed to test the tail for one year, in exchange for human legs later. However, Roxxon went bankrupt soon after, and Quincy was left with his snake-like appearance.
Quincy decided to adopt his brother’s name of Bushmaster, and became a mercenary for hire. He was recruited by Sidewinder (who was actually Voelker in disguise) to join the Serpent Society, a trade union of snake-themed criminals. Bushmaster felt accepted by the Society, and made friends with Diamondback, another member. He also participated in several missions for the Society, such as hunting down MODOK for A.I.M., searching for the Scourge of the Underworld who killed one of their own, and retrieving mystical objects for Ghaur and Llyra.
Bushmaster remained loyal to Sidewinder when Viper tried to take over the Society. He was poisoned by Viper, but was saved by Captain America and Diamondback. He also helped Diamondback when she was put on trial by King Cobra, the new leader of the Society. Bushmaster fought against Captain America and Paladin several times, but was eventually captured and sent to prison.
Bushmaster escaped from prison with the help of Baron Zemo, who forced him to join his Thunderbolts team during the superhuman Civil War. He later rejoined the Serpent Society, and fought against various heroes such as the New Avengers, the X-Men, Nick Fury Jr., Gambit, and Spider-Man. He also attended a criminal technology expo where he tried to sell his bionic tail technology. He was corrupted by Mephisto along with other villains during an invasion of Las Vegas.
Bushmaster has some interesting attributes that make him a formidable foe. He has superhuman strength and durability in his bionic arms and tail. He can use his tail as a weapon or as a means of locomotion. He can also constrict his enemies with his tail or inject them with venom through retractable fangs. He is skilled in hand-to-hand combat and firearms. He is loyal to his friends and allies in the Serpent Society.
Bushmaster has also appeared in other media besides comics. He was featured in the animated series The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, where he was voiced by Nolan North. He also appeared in the video game Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2, where he was voiced by Emerson Brooks.
