The Original Black Nerd Collection

Introduced in the 1980s is **Tattooed Man**, also known as **Mark Richards**. He first appeared in Green Lantern (vol. 4) #9 in 2006, but his origin story dates back to the Subsonic Wars in Southern Modora, where he was a U.S. Marine who learned the art of Sin Grafting from a tribe that tortured him. Sin Grafting is the ability to burn the sins of others into one’s own flesh, creating living tattoos that can be controlled by the bearer. Richards became a mercenary and a killer, using his tattoos as weapons and taking contracts from criminals. He also had a family that he tried to protect from his enemies and from the influence of Darkseid during Final Crisis. He briefly joined the Justice League and the Titans, but he was always haunted by his past and his sins.
