President Superman Calvin Ellis of Earth-23 will be the Black Superman

Why President Superman Calvin Ellis is coming.

Have no fear the white Kryptonian is still here. The new black Kryptonian will be President Superman – Calvin Ellis of Earth-23. The signs have been showing since October.

Let’s start with the big picture:

In comics after Death Metal 7 ended the series, we learned that all stories are relevant.
In the movies after Joker’s success, Batman movie is also set in a different world than the rest of the Justice League. The Flash movie will bring the full multi-verse into the DCEU.
Much of the Black Panther movie framework was taken from Ta-Nehisi Coates run. The story building that some readers don’t like will work well in developing an alternate world like Earth-23 for the screen.

Now, let us look at some indicators:

Superman of Prime Earth will always be Clark Kent or some version of him.
President Superman appearances:
1. Death Metal tie-in the book Multiverse’s End – He is on the cover and has several panels dedicated to his fight.
2. Death Metal tie-in New Gods- featured in the ending page shot. He is drawn front and center next to Nubia.
3. DC’s Very Merry Multiverse – he is on the cover and has a feature story.
4. Death Metal tie-in – Trinity Crisis he appeared on the splash page.
5. Death Metal 7 – He appeared in a flashback.
Val-Zod did not make an appearance in any Death Metal comics. Even Sunshine Superman got some love.
He is on the Infinite Frontier wraparound comic book cover.
Earth 23 is a clean slate so writers can build what they want.
His comic books are starting to spike in the comic book market.
President Obama and President Superman already have a connection from the beginning.

According to an article on the website CBR “ Created by Grant Morrison and Doug Mahnke, Ellis first appeared in Final Crisis #7. The character is visually based on former President Barack Obama, with Morrison confirming they originally intended Obama to be the Superman of Earth-23.”

Also from the website CBR “Kal-El isn’t the only black superhero on Earth-23. This world’s version of the Justice League is one big shout-out to all the black superheroes created throughout DC’s history. Their roster includes Nubia, who was Wonder Woman’s sister in Pre-Crisis history, but also Vixen, Steel, Mister Miracle, Black Lightning, and Amazing Man. Other pictures of their roster have shown an afro-rocking Zatanna, along with Red Tornado. Batman remains unchanged, commentary on the privilege which would be necessary to become Batman in the first place”.

Using the characters that will be in comics during 2021. We could have an Earth 23 Justice League with Nubia, Jace Fox, Jo Mullien , Vixen, Black Lightning with Mister Miracle to connect worlds. Well, an OK Blerdoomer can dream.
